HABITS and ARTISTE/DESIGNER BREAKING THE RULE OF ART

30 JULY 2013
HABIT OF BITING STRAW AND CHEWING ICE AFTER FINISH DRINKING

Something that I will never fail to do after I finish my drink. Biting straw and chewing ice. I believe I'm not the only one that does this right? The reason I bite straw after drinking or while drinking is because I'm just bored. I know this is kind of weird but the feeling when you bite a straw is addictive? At times I bite straw until it is torn. When I bite a straw I actually stare into space... and at times I did that because feeling frustrated or thinking hard about a certain thing. I actually bite it unknowingly. I managed to break the habit as I was warned by a lot of people of how disgusting and bad it looks when you did that almost all the time because it does not look good on people eyes. So , whenever I already finish up my drink, I will put it far away from me, however it is not that easy to avoid things that you never fail to do. Therefore, I always have something in my mouth to chew or refill my drink, its better than biting a straw.

Secondly......CHEWING ICE!

Recently, I managed to break my habit of chewing ice! YAY! A few days ago I've stop chewing a lot of ice because I came across a picture of a bad tooth , outcome of a person when they chew ice. It really irks me.. and people around was like "SEE! this is the outcome!" , " This will happen if you continue that!" and more.. I can't remember how I started it but I kept doing it, just like biting a straw. Its addictive! however , it is bad for our teeth, it might eventually crack and there will be a permanent damage and it does not look good on you FOR SURE!

ARTIST/DESIGNER who break the rule of art.
BUTTER STICK TYPE.

I think that this artiste/designer is creative and clever to invent this butter stick type. Usually butter is spread using butter knife, spoon or etc, but this artiste/designer came out with an idea that making it more easier and convenient to spread the butter onto the bread without using butter knife and etc. He/She might get the idea from the glue stick but just by replacing the glue to a butter. I believe that it is much more easier and faster. BRILLIANT!

1 AUGUST 2013
HABIT LISTENING TO MUSIC WHEREVER I GO

I got this habit of listening to music to wherever I go. When I am on my way to school, meeting friends or going home, I never fail to have my earpiece on. Therefore, after the day where my lecturer share with us her experience about breaking the habit of listening to music when she is on her way to anywhere. I decided to challenge myself too. I did, but it is not easy...One thing that i realize is that, when i do not have my earpiece with me to listen to music, I actually reflect about a lot of things. I'm more aware about the surroundings and alert. So now, I still listen to music on my way to anywhere just that before having my earpiece on, i reflect on certain things, trying to recall and remember the things that I suppose to do or already done.

2 AUGUST 2013
ARTIST/DESIGNER who break the rule of art.

Its interesting how the artiste arrange the food and drinks on the table into someone portrait
instead of being drawn with art material. For me, I think that it’s kind of having the basic rules in their portrait design but still allow the possibility to break those traditional portrait rules.

ARTIST/DESIGNER who break the rule of art.

These picture above is done by the street artiste.
STREET ART UTOPIA

These street art attract my attention, as how they tell/interpret by art. The first picture is trying to convey a message about nature lending/giving us tools and color to make the world a beautiful place and more understandable. The second picture , I guess it want to tell us about safety, therefore it make the "zebra crossing" or "traffic light" more interesting or keyboard-like to attract people attention and make them do the right thing and follow the law. Last but not the least, i called it the rainbow staircase. The artiste might want to talk about health. By adding colors and words, it will make people attracted especially the kids and use the stairs often instead of elevator or etc.

Creativity

 Around  The  World..
                        23 JULY 2013
Artwork done by Tan Swee Heng( picture on the right)

Yesterday I went to a exhibitions called DREAM CATCHERS. Its an exhibitions of artworks done by the National University Hospital kids whom suffered from disorder and wheelchair bound. The artwork on the right that was done by Tan Swee Heng has caught my attention by his creativity of how he express what he thinks and feel through his artwork. Basically, he uses pills, print and LED lights in his artwork to represent the land, country. Its interesting as how he uses different colour pills and different type/size of pills to show different part of an area in a country. Creativity is a great motivator because it makes people interested in what they're doing. Its just someone who has a physical limitation desire to travel around the world without any obstacle.

A picture of Vanessa Leong and me
(her artwork at the background, on the wall)

Today I went to the same exhibitions again, It was really inspiring.  You get to see the amazing creativity of those students in their art pieces. Vanessa leong artwork was sweet, inspirational and creative. She did a hand-folded roses which are made from prescription lists, hospital tax invoices ,appointment slips, catheters and syringes. She made use of the medical details that fill her life and groom each into a colourful experience. The creativity and idea she got was from a guy who teaches her how to do the hand-folded roses from there she started to explore and create the wonderful art piece. She stated a qoute and it goes; "You can't have a rainbow without a little rain."

An artwork that caught my attention while I was doing my research. I find it very interesting and creative. I think the artiste is trying to convey a story, emotions and thoughts in his/her artwork. In this art piece, it includes movement, weight, gestures, depths, something that I can relate to what I'm learning in school at this point of time. It is creative as to how this artiste interpret his artwork. Creativity can be shown in any ways/media, it must able to be recognize and understand by the public. Its not only be express by words, write up or etc but can be shown in an Artwork in any form.

ESCAPE

This is an Artwork done by my closest friend , Nur Nadzirah Umar. She never fail to impressed me by her artworks ever since we are in secondary school. I've fall in love with her creativity. She was inspired by the artwork that is shown and that has been shared by different people on tumblr.  Its actually a randomn drawing which she infused a little bit of her own doodling into her drawing. She believe doodling helps us to express our feelings and ease our mind from our daily busy life. I totally agree to that. Some of her drawing/doodling really inspire me till now.

27 JULY 2013

Just an artwork that I found at Instagram.  An artwork that plays with lines and dots. A detailed artwork. It's amazing how an artiste can came out with a lot of different ideas of pattern and design to fill up the page beautifully. To me, imagination can be part of creativity, no matter how absurd it may looks to other, maybe? This is just awesome!

28 JULY 2013

An artwork that show surrealism. Just repeating of patterns and lines. Surrealism captivates my attention because it challenges me to understand and guess what the artwork is about. I have yet get what the artwork trying to convey but the way how the artiste done it is just great!

A screenshot of a picture from Instagram . This is a LED ice cubes. It is very creative how the person who invent this LED ice cubes. I'm curious how did he/she do it?! Is it edible? or just for show? Really attract the attention of people around the world especially the little ones and also youngster!

TIM BROWN:TALES OF CREATIVITY AND PLAY

Just to summarise about the video that was assign to watch. Its about creativity and play. Adults have the fear of the judgement of their peers, embarrass about sharing their ideas to those around them compare to kids who has no embarrassment when they were ask to share or show their ideas. Kids feel more secure and free with sharing of ideas but they will get more sensitive to the opinions of others when they learn to become adults. When we are able to get the sense of trust, comfortable with people around us, it allows us to be able to take the kind of creative risks that designer should take. Playfulness helps us to explore and do things better. With this, we have to be quick and the ability to explore. We get better brainstorming and creative outcomes when everyone does play by the rule. We have to experiment with different aspects of our work. Learning by playing. Playful exploration, playful buildings and role play, that is how designers have use play in their work. We need trust to play and be creative.
