Creativity

 Around  The  World..
                        23 JULY 2013
Artwork done by Tan Swee Heng( picture on the right)

Yesterday I went to a exhibitions called DREAM CATCHERS. Its an exhibitions of artworks done by the National University Hospital kids whom suffered from disorder and wheelchair bound. The artwork on the right that was done by Tan Swee Heng has caught my attention by his creativity of how he express what he thinks and feel through his artwork. Basically, he uses pills, print and LED lights in his artwork to represent the land, country. Its interesting as how he uses different colour pills and different type/size of pills to show different part of an area in a country. Creativity is a great motivator because it makes people interested in what they're doing. Its just someone who has a physical limitation desire to travel around the world without any obstacle.

A picture of Vanessa Leong and me
(her artwork at the background, on the wall)

Today I went to the same exhibitions again, It was really inspiring.  You get to see the amazing creativity of those students in their art pieces. Vanessa leong artwork was sweet, inspirational and creative. She did a hand-folded roses which are made from prescription lists, hospital tax invoices ,appointment slips, catheters and syringes. She made use of the medical details that fill her life and groom each into a colourful experience. The creativity and idea she got was from a guy who teaches her how to do the hand-folded roses from there she started to explore and create the wonderful art piece. She stated a qoute and it goes; "You can't have a rainbow without a little rain."

An artwork that caught my attention while I was doing my research. I find it very interesting and creative. I think the artiste is trying to convey a story, emotions and thoughts in his/her artwork. In this art piece, it includes movement, weight, gestures, depths, something that I can relate to what I'm learning in school at this point of time. It is creative as to how this artiste interpret his artwork. Creativity can be shown in any ways/media, it must able to be recognize and understand by the public. Its not only be express by words, write up or etc but can be shown in an Artwork in any form.

ESCAPE

This is an Artwork done by my closest friend , Nur Nadzirah Umar. She never fail to impressed me by her artworks ever since we are in secondary school. I've fall in love with her creativity. She was inspired by the artwork that is shown and that has been shared by different people on tumblr.  Its actually a randomn drawing which she infused a little bit of her own doodling into her drawing. She believe doodling helps us to express our feelings and ease our mind from our daily busy life. I totally agree to that. Some of her drawing/doodling really inspire me till now.

Just an artwork that I found at Instagram.  An artwork that plays with lines and dots. A detailed artwork. It's amazing how an artiste can came out with a lot of different ideas of pattern and design to fill up the page beautifully. To me, imagination can be part of creativity, no matter how absurd it may looks to other, maybe? This is just awesome!

TIM BROWN:TALES OF CREATIVITY AND PLAY

Just to summarise about the video that was assign to watch. Its about creativity and play. Adults have the fear of the judgement of their peers, embarrass about sharing their ideas to those around them compare to kids who has no embarrassment when they were ask to share or show their ideas. Kids feel more secure and free with sharing of ideas but they will get more sensitive to the opinions of others when they learn to become adults. When we are able to get the sense of trust, comfortable with people around us, it allows us to be able to take the kind of creative risks that designer should take. Playfulness helps us to explore and do things better. With this, we have to be quick and the ability to explore. We get better brainstorming and creative outcomes when everyone does play by the rule. We have to experiment with different aspects of our work. Learning by playing. Playful exploration, playful buildings and role play, that is how designers have use play in their work. We need trust to play and be creative.
